The law of declining marginal utility has always been there. Im not sure users "feel" it. Users have always high feelings for a new iPhone model even though its 98% the same as its predecessor. Its maybe the same feeling as people had on a new invention in early 20th century. Feelings are relative. We are getting used to minimal improvements and perceive them as big steps ahead.
